“The first rule any technology used in a business automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency.”
– Bill Gates
Most organisations have begun some modest digital transformation before we are able to meet with them. Quite often it is a level of failure or frustration with a particular system that leads to our introduction. We don’t believe in throwing the baby out with the bathwater and it is important to assess technology assets that are in place before the digital transformation experience gathers momentum.
Quite often, business renovation is just as or even more effective than complete design and construct process. Most organisations will have some kind of technology infrastructure, it may have progressed into sales or marketing, there will almost certainly be a website or social media and perhaps one or two unique apps. Individuals are likely to have taken up a number of productivity tools. It is important to harvest the low hanging fruit to get some early wins as this is one thing that with any change initiative will increase the level of employee adoption and support.
We complete a simple audit of digital assets and technology. We measure the effectiveness of these assets with a variety of business driven tools. We want to be clear about the objectives, the level of satisfaction and the ease-of-use among other things. If neccessary we can take the analysis one step further to begin to identify the relevant improvements that can be made quickly.
